At CSUSM\, 2016 statistics show that 6\,989 of our undergraduate students are women (out of 11\,555 total). And\, 48.5% of our first-year students are Hispanic/Latino/a.\n\n \n\nThis distinguished Speaker Series entitled\, "Women Breaking Boundaries" was established by CSUSM President Karen Haynes during a meeting with University Council members Rita Brandin (Senior Vice President\, Development Director at Newland Communities) and Linda Bailey (President of Community Strategies Group). Together\, they felt it would be powerful for students to hear from women who hold a non-traditional role to gain an understanding of how those women got to where they are today.
